Scott takes 7th place in torrential conditions at Misano

Scott Redding’s (Octo Pramac Racing) first podium in the premier class came at Misano in 2015 – also a race affected by the weather – and the Brit was on top form once again at the San Marino GP this season, taking seventh in the torrential conditions.

But it was a challenging weekend and Redding says his focus was on surviving – keen to make sure the struggles don’t happen again in future.

Scott Redding, P7:
“I’m happy about the result. We struggled all weekend in the dry and I could only hope to get some rain and try to do the best I could. In Warm Up we struggled to get grip on the left-hand side of the tyre and we made some changes for the race, thinking we could make some improvement but actually it didn’t change a lot. I lost a lot of time in the left-handers and I tried to just be wise, stay on, get a rhythm, try not to crash ad see how I go. Every time I tried to go a bit faster, I had another big moment. So I was set in that range and I just kept my head, and thought ‘just keep this rhythm and if they come past, try to fight with them because you cannot make a step’. At one point I thought I could pass Zarco and go but that was the limit I had. I’m happy to finish where we did in the top ten but I’m not satisfied by the performance. I was just surviving. So I’m happy where I was but we need to find something if this happens again.”
