Scott Struggles to find the right feeling in Americas GP
Raceday at the Circuit of the Americas proved frustrating for Scott Redding as he struggled to find the right feeling with the hard tyres chosen for the race, having to settle for a seventeenth place finish in the end.
The tests scheduled for Monday on this track, where both the Aprilia riders will participate, will be useful to give Scott a chance to increase his familiarity with the RS-GP and better prepare for the arrival of the European races.

“Our weekend has started off well, but then I was unable to progress as much as I would have liked to. I rode the race with the hardest tyre both on the front and on the back and the situation improved in terms of the front end, but I was lacking grip at the rear. To be honest, I expected more, but I can’t be disappointed: Aleix did an excellent job today and that demonstrates that the bike has good potential, I just need to keep improving and learning.”
Scott takes twelfth in difficult Americas GP
The third round of the 2017 season of MotoGP ended with Scott Redding finishing in twelfth – a position that allows the English rider to confirm himself in the Top 10 (9th place) of the World Championship standings.
Scott’s race was not an easy one by any means, however. A crash in the first lap of the warm-up probably made him lose a bit of confidence, as the result the English wasn’t able to find the same feeling he had during the free practices. Plus, from the middle of the race a strong left-shoulder pain forced him to tighten his teeth and bring home four precious points for the standings

“It was a very tough race today. We choose to go with the hard tyre but I did not find the feeling. Maybe I should have tried the medium but now it’s too late for regrets. The problem is that I was unable to be competitive from the early laps. I had no traction in corner exit that’s why I had to work hard in braking probably stressing too much the front tire. We have some work to do. We must now focus on Jerez”.
Fantastic sixth place for Scott Redding in Texas
Octo Pramac Yakhnich ends up the Grand Prix of the Americas with a stunning double Top 10 and now returns home with great confidence in sight of the European rounds.
At the end of an extraordinary race, Scott Redding won the sixth position, giving his team the satisfaction of celebrating in parc fermee as first Independent Team of the Grand Prix of the Americas. Although, for the British rider it was really a tough race.
Scott started very fast and managed to pass on lap one both Crutchlow and Vinales, gaining 7th position after Valentino Rossi’s crash. After undergoing the return of Vinales and having reached the sixth position following the clash between Pedrosa and Dovizioso, Redding gave the impression of being able to catch the two Suzuki. Halfway through the race, however, problems with front tyre forced him to lower his pace race.
Scott managed to keep focused despite the attack of Pol Espargaro who recovered almost three seconds in five laps. At the end, Octo Pramac Yakhnich #45 crossed the finish line smoothly to win his high-season result.
6th – Scott Redding
“Top 6 is a great result but it would have been nice to get ninth since there have been three crashes in the group ahead. In the end, I had problems with the front tire and I could not lap strong. I started to lose a second every lap, and I had to change my riding style in order to finish the race defending my position. I am happy because I started the race well and I lapped without making mistakes. It was a good race and I am very happy to have given joy to the team, who did a fantastic job today after the little problem we had in the warm-up and especially after the disappointment of Argentina.”
